Thank you so much for having me for the race this weekend, I really appreciate all you do. Please convey my thanks and I would also like to say that the trophy is absolutely beautiful, thank you. Caitlin (sorry for spelling) is mommy through and through, she even smiles just like mom.

I really hope that the function went off well on Saturday, sorry that I was not there, I was transport bound with the team as we all travelled together.

Hi there,

I just wanted to send you a BIG thank you for a wonderful event!

I did the half marathon and surprised myself by really enjoying it. The water points and the support was amazing…I especially loved the gumboot dancers on the way up Giraffe’s neck!

You all went to so much trouble and it made it a fantastic day for me and my family. My husband and father did the 50km and they were also full of praise for the wonderful event.

I will rate it v highly.

I can only complement you & your team for consistently delivering the best marathon (bar Comrades) in the country; I always tell folks that Loskop 50km is a much more enjoyable run then “om die hyacinth” en 2 oceans: some of the reasons I give:

1. Low on marketing hype, big on delivery
2. Easy & organized start runner flow logistics: entry via side gate, ample safe parking, easy walk to registration, tea & rusks for all, (not just green numbers), baggage truck en route to start, then a good, fast start area.
3. No “promotional events” companies’ costs
4. Low camber on route
5. Traffic free route
6. Beautiful variation in scenery: highveld grassland to bushveld, quiet, tranquil & amazing geology en route; I want to know more on those red rock outcrops en route!
7. Best water table “gees” (powerade a must in future)
8. Superb training: hills & flats & qualifying event.
9. Low cost race (if required): leave JHB early, run, shower, return same day: no airfares, accommodation etc.
10. Great finish: pool area, at least at Loskop, you can make a braai, beer & food is reasonably priced (unlike 2 oceans).

Sonja, Kim and I count it a privilege to be a small part of an event that still proves that there are administrators, organisers and sponsors that have the ‘old’ values of passion, skill and commitment that seems to be lacking in today’s world, particularly in road running, where so many races are staged with little regard for standards.

We salute you and your team and will happily play any role you deem fit in future years.

May the Forever Resorts Loskop Marathon go from strength to strength! You guys have rekindled my belief in the qualities of the human spirit.

Thanks Anette - As I really love this race & yes can agree with what you said below - it is not the average race!

We thank you as well it was a wonderful race! We however may have to reconsider for next year as it is getting rather expensive to enter - especially with accommodation & petrol it works out rather much. The t-shirts for the off road race are also better than the 50K, which is also an incentive.

But yes you probably will as I do want to finish 10-

Baie dankie vir die puik wedloop. Net een punt van kritiek - die wedloop raak baie duur! R130 vir die 50km maak dit van die duurste wedlope!

Dis nogal 'n onderwerp wat baie bespreek is onder die hardlopers op die wedloop. Pasop om hierdie puik wedloop buite bereik van die gewone ouens te prys.

Thank you once again for an excellent race, you guys are just one step in front, I did my 11th one this year and it stays my preferred ultra. As a person that is part of a organizing committee myself I know what hard work it is to put in to get a positive result. I want to congratulate you for a excellent race once again.

Thank you so much for a spectacular 21 km race. I absolutely loved it. When my husband entered on my behalf and I saw the entry fee I commented on what seemed expensive. Having run the race, I realise now that the R91 was an investment I will make over and over again. The race was well organised. The ice gold water sachets at the many waterpoints was appreciated!

Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers and especially the race organisers.

See you in 2010 and who known again and again.

Dear Loskop Marathon organizers,

Once again, a superbly organized event last Saturday; I have often told many non-Loskop runners that they miss the best “non-Comrades” ultra in SA.
Recommendations:

1. As per Comrades marathon, please can you provide Powerade /Energade in Sachets at every water table at future Loskop races. This saves so much time stopping to fill up ½ full cups of Powerade & drinking that awful fizzy coke. You wil be surprised at how much less Coke that you need & don’t have to transport empty bottles back afterwards.
2. Early Buses to leave resort at 13h00 for those who do not want to stay for prizegiving
3. Announcer who doesn’t shout into the microphone all the time at the end; most of us can hear!!!

Ek het Saterdag die 50km wedloop voltooi. Eerstens wile k net weer baie dankie aan julle almal se. dit was weereens ‘n fantastiese ondervinding en waterpunte was puik.

Net een versoek: ek het ‘n XL groote bestel en met die harwar wat daar was toe ek klaargemaak het ongelukkig ‘n XXL ontvang. Kan ek dit asseblief kom omruil? Ek is woonagtig in mIddelburg.

To The 2009 Forever Resorts Loskop Series Team,

Thank you so much for an event well organise. I do know that the event to run as smoothly as it did on this past weekend, there must have been a great effort put from you and from all your partners. It goes without mentioning that there must have been a lot of sleepless nights too. I will definitely participate on The 25th Ultra Marathon again next year.

Aan almal wat betrokke was by die wedloop.

Dit was die eerste keer dat ek en my man aan die wedloop deelneem. DIT WAS PUIK!!!!! Die organisering, waterpunte, eindpunt alles maar alles was tops. Julle is bo aan my rating list.

Ek moet erken terwyl ek daai Girrafe's Neck uitgekruip het het ek gesweer NOOIT weer nie. Maar vandag voel ek al beter en het ek klaar vergeet hoe erg dit was. Volgende jaar is ek terug.

Baie dankie ook vir hierdie terugvoer. Dit maak dit spesiaal. Ek dra my T-shirt met trots!

Thank you for a great day the water tables were good really enjoyed the potatoes at the Farmers stop - also for the hassle free transfer of numbers from another running buddy who could not make it. Loskop was my first 50k race and they have all been great - till next year.

I noticed the decline in numbers, but we know that 2 Oceans played a major part in it, but in quality – you are the best – WELL DONE!

I enjoy the race water points was where good enough water,coke and something extra.

Their was somethings that I was not happy with:

First: The Sat. morning when we arrived at Forever resort their was no gates open.When we ask somebody they said we must go to that gate.When we arrived at the gate the person couldn’t get the gate open.Finally when got inside then we run around to get the onto the bus the people around their didn’t knew where is the correct place to get onto the bus.

Second: To much unnnessary traffic on the road.People riding with athletes to second them and make a lot of dust.The road sould be closed just open for offcial motorcars.Some other years people got stickers on the cars no stickers you don’t pass where is the people that must look at that.

I would like to thank all involved in the organization and execution of the event and congratulate you all on a job very well done !!!! The route for the 21km was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, very challenging and totally different from any other in the country, I believe.

Don`t change a thing - it`s perfect !!!!
My family & I had an excellent weekend at your lovely resort also, which was beautifully kept and cared for. We will definitely be back next year, God willing, to participate in this event again.

2009 Forever Loskop Marathon

Geagte Komitee.

Net om dankie te se vir nog n baie lekker Loskop 50 km. Altyd n plesier om julle wedloop te kom hardloop en sal beslus terug wees volgende jaar en elke jaar daar na.

Net een probleem. Toe ek my goodie bag uitpak het ek tot my verbasing geen tossing coin ontvang nie. En dit is net so belangrik soos die medalje. Kandit asseblief aan my gestuur word?

Dan het ek reeds verskeie kere navraag gedoen na ons 2007 coins wat ons ook nie ontvang het nie, is daar n moontlikheid dat ons (ek en my vrou Magda) dit ook kan kry?.
